A guide for reaching El Canuelo from Malaga Airport.

El Canuelo is situated nine kilometres north of Priego de Cordoba in the south east corner of Cordoba province.

It is helpful to have a Michelin map of Andalusia 1cm = 4km map or equivalent.

We do not offer a pick up service but we recommend that you hire a car from Malaga airport. Car hire in Spain is one of the cheapest in Europe. We can recommend www.carjet.com we have used them many times and have never been let down.

On leaving Malaga airport take the motorway east (Malaga, Montril) Then take the turnoff for Antequera. When north of Malaga take the motorway for (Seville, Cordoba, and Antequera). Head north through the hills towards Antequera. After the first and second turning for Antequera keep heading for Seville, do not turn left for Granada. Take Junction 149 for Cordoba (N331), because one motorway joins another, junction 149 is just after Junction123.

Head north for Lucena. The main road at Lucena avoids the town, take the turning for Cabra, head eastwards towards Cabra. Do not go into Cabra but keep on the main road (A340) to Priego de Cordoba. This road takes you through the Subbetica natural Park.

As you approach Priego, ignore all turnoffs into the town. When north of Priego take the turnoff for Jaen, Drive north for nine kilometres and you arrive at the village of El Canuelo.
